Horse Training Clinic and Seminar for horse owners and professional horse trainers

Janet Burleson, acknowledged as one of the world's pioneering horse trainers, provides a one-hour or two-hour clinic that has been very popular among horse lovers and amateur trainers. The clinic focuses of training techniques and cites parallels to all popular horse training methodologies including John Lyons and Pat Parelli techniques.  Seminar topics may be customized, including any of these Guide Horse training topics:

  • The Guide Horse story

  • Horses re-entering modern society

  • Training a prey animal (herd instincts, marking behaviors, bonding with leader)

  • The basic training principles

Also, we have these entertaining topics:

  • Conducting a field intelligence test on a horse

  • Imprinting and handling

  • Housebreaking a horse

  • Teaching a horse to lie down

  • Teaching a horse to retrieve

  • Training horses to ride escalators, climb stairs and ride elevators

  • Traveling with a horse (airlines, hotel rooms)

  • Independent thinking skills for horses (intelligent disobedience)

  • Systematic desensitization (spooking in-place)

  • Un-learning bad habits

  • A blind guide horse user speaks about horse ownership

Please note that the Guide Horse Foundation is a 501(c) charity with a primary goal of working with the visually disabled. Free horse training seminar availability is subject to funding availability, scope of media exposure and personal tine constraints.

We receive thousands of appearance requests each year and it is impossible to accommodate every request for a horse training seminar. If your schedule is flexible, we can place your organization on a wait list and perform your Guide Horse seminar when we are in your area.
